Institutional Presentation of Génio, Nov 2024
Mission and Vision
Génio's mission is to democratize personalized nutrition by combining advances in genetics and epigenetics with practical solutions such as tailor-made meals delivered directly to users. Our goal is to reach thousands of subscribers within five to ten years while significantly improving quality of life through tailored nutrition validated by DNA analysis. By putting science at the service of well-being, Génio positions itself as a key player in the prevention of chronic diseases and the optimization of well-being through tailored nutrition.
We work with or without genetic tests, depending on our clients' preferences. Our nutritionists and dietitians provide personalized support even for clients who choose not to undergo genetic testing. Additionally, our food is guaranteed 100% natural, and we fully respect the choice of those who prefer an approach without DNA analysis while ensuring consideration of their individual needs.
Global Health Challenges
The rate of chronic diseases continues to rise worldwide. Today, nearly 60% of the global population is affected by chronic diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, or hypertension. These diseases are partly influenced by genetic factors, but also by lifestyle choices that can be optimized through a better understanding of each individual's genetic profile.
For example, obesity has increased rapidly with a growth of nearly 40% since 1975, according to the WHO. Many are unaware that this condition can be linked to genes like FTO, which regulate appetite and fat storage. People carrying a variant of the FTO gene may have an increased risk of obesity, and nutrition tailored to their genetics can help them better manage their weight. Similarly, millions of people suffer from type 2 diabetes or hypertension, which can also be influenced by genetic predispositions.
By identifying these factors through genetic analysis, Génio enables its users to adopt personalized nutrition, thereby improving their health and well-being more effectively and sustainably.
Our Unique Scientific Approach
At Génio, we distinguish ourselves through our approach based on genetics and epigenetics, allowing us to offer precise dietary recommendations. We analyze a total of 19 diseases and conditions linked to genetic predispositions, and through the analysis of genes like FTO (linked to obesity), we offer our clients personalization that maximizes the results of their diet. This unique and scientific approach enables measurable and tangible results.
Examples of specific genes analyzed:
- APOE: ketogenic or vegetarian diet?
- DIO2: optimal carbohydrate intake.
- LCT: dairy tolerance.
- HLA: need for a gluten-free diet.
- FTO: predisposition to obesity and appetite management.
Meeting the Growing Demand for Personalized Nutrition
The market for personalized nutrition is growing. Génio meets this growing demand by offering solutions that are adapted and science-based. Our service is primarily developed in Brazil and Europe, where more and more consumers seek nutritional solutions that take their genetics into account to prevent chronic diseases and improve their quality of life.
Business Model
Génio operates on a subscription model, where users subscribe to monthly or annual programs. Each subscription includes an optional DNA test, personalized support from nutritionists, and delivery of tailored meals. Our meals are crafted by renowned chefs, thus ensuring the quality of the dishes while maintaining competitive prices. Additionally, whenever possible, we prioritize using locally sourced products to support local producers and minimize our carbon footprint.
Strategic Partnerships
As part of this launch, Génio is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Genesis Genomics, a company specializing in genomics and precision medicine from the Fleury Group, as well as the Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo. This key partnership strengthens our ability to offer cutting-edge genetic analyses and tailored nutritional solutions for each individual.
Additionally, Génio works closely with Med Rio Check Up, led by Dr. Gilberto Uruhary in Rio de Janeiro. This partnership allows us to guide clients requiring additional medical information for further follow-up based on their genetic and nutritional results.
Founding Team & SaaS Platform
The founding team of Génio is the result of a collaboration between nutritionists, chefs, genomic biology specialists, and technology experts. Together, they have not only integrated scientific advances in nutrition and genetics but also developed a proprietary SaaS platform that ensures smooth communication between all involved parties: clients, nutritionists, and chefs.
Thanks to this SaaS platform, Génio is able to effectively connect its users with nutrition and genetic experts while facilitating the personalization of dietary recommendations. Our proprietary algorithm, patented by Génio, analyzes genetic data and generates precise dietary recommendations in real-time.
This algorithm plays a key role in optimizing our users' results, offering solutions tailored to their specific needs. The security of our clients' personal data is guaranteed through strict data protection protocols.
Societal Impact and Sustainable Development
In line with the goals of COP28 and carbon neutrality by 2050, Génio is committed to measuring and reducing the carbon footprint of each meal. In the short term, we aim to provide a carbon rating for each dish, to inform our clients about the environmental impact of their food choices. Additionally, our recyclable packaging helps minimize the ecological impact of our deliveries.
